A HISTORIC AND UNIQUE SPACE FOR YOUR WEDDING
About The Grounds
The Grounds promises to deliver natural beauty and a one-of-a-kind experience. Located just east of New Glarus on Highway W, our venue boasts 35 serene wooded acres. Large enough to accommodate up to a thousand people—with parking, this wooded clearing provides ample space, while maintaining its quaint intimacy. For groups both large and small, The Grounds is a historic and unique space to host your special day!
If you are willing to “get back to basics” and have a vision for an original and beautiful outdoor event, The Grounds is for you. There may not be a permanent structure to host your event in, but that does allow you to create your own through a variety of tenting solutions. And you can most certainly light the place up (modern electric!), but you will not find running water. There is, however, a traditional concessions hut, complete with refrigerators and electricity. Truly, the possibilities are endless. At The Grounds, the only limit is your imagination! Create something as special as the love you celebrate.
Our History
For more than 80 years, the Wilhelm Tell Grounds has been home to the annual Wilhelm Tell Festival. Nestled into the woods, this natural amphitheater has served as the stage and focal point of these yearly festivities. Here, the community comes together to perform in the time-honored tradition based on Friedrich Schiller’s play—an ode to the town’s Swiss heritage. The Grounds is deeply rooted in tradition and serves as the heart of this beloved festival.
